In a recent episode of “The Dean Obeidallah Show,” MSNBC columnist and progressive radio host Dean Obeidallah expressed his belief that Donald Trump should “die in prison” as a way to set an example for the public. Obeidallah was discussing the media’s coverage of the ages of the two leading presidential candidates with his guest, Mediaite reporter Tommy Christopher. Christopher argued that the media hadn’t shown enough outrage towards Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who suggested that President Biden, at 80 years old, may not survive another full term. Christopher proposed that if Biden had predicted that Trump, at 77 years old, could “die in prison,” conservative media would be furious.
However, Obeidallah took it a step further and suggested that Trump should die in a jail cell due to the criminal charges against him. Trump is the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges and has pleaded not guilty to all of them, including allegations of falsifying business records, attempts to overturn the 2020 election, and mishandling classified documents. For Obeidallah, the charges against Trump, along with his allies, as seen in the Georgia election case, are proof that he deserves a life sentence.
Obeidallah passionately argued that a life in prison sentence would not only hold Trump accountable for his actions but also send a message to the public that such behavior will not be tolerated. He views it as a matter of protecting the democratic republic and preventing the erosion of democratic institutions. Obeidallah emphasized that he was not calling for Trump to be murdered but rather to face the consequences of his actions by dying of natural causes while serving a lengthy prison sentence.
It’s worth noting that Obeidallah has a history of making provocative comments about Trump and his supporters. Last year, he compared Trump supporters to terrorist sympathizers, stating that he viewed them “no different than the despicable, vile people who supported Bin Laden after 9/11.”
At the time of reporting, neither President Trump’s attorney nor Dean Obeidallah had responded to requests for comment. For more news on culture, media, education, opinion, and other topics, visit foxnews.com/media.
