Susanna Gibson, a Democratic candidate running for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 57, has strongly criticized her opponents for what she calls “unethical political tactics” after the emergence of videos depicting her and her husband engaged in explicit online content for financial gain on the adult streaming website Chaturbate, as reported by the Washington Post on Monday.
Gibson, a 40-year-old mother of two and a nurse practitioner, has since expressed her outrage, characterizing the situation as a “violation of my privacy intended to shame me.” She has accused her political adversaries of resorting to underhanded methods.
In a statement to CNN on Tuesday, Gibson asserted, “My political opponents and their Republican allies have demonstrated their willingness to engage in questionable actions to target me and my family, as there seems to be no limit to their efforts to suppress women who voice their opinions.”
She continued, “My opponent and his supporters are aware that our community stands firmly behind our stance on important issues. Therefore, they have resorted to what I consider to be lowbrow political tactics. The stakes in this election are too high, and I remain committed to advocating for our community’s interests.”
