As previously reported, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and her team embarked on a four-day electric vehicle road trip through the Southeast during the summer. Their journey took them from North Carolina to Tennessee, where they aimed to promote the Biden administration’s commitment to funding electric vehicles, even though they are not widely adopted due to their cost.
According to a reporter traveling with the Energy Department’s electric vehicle caravan, they encountered difficulties when it came to charging their electric vehicles.
Perhaps the most memorable part of the road trip was when a family felt compelled to call the police on one of the Energy Department’s staff members. This staffer had become so desperate to reserve a charging plug for Jennifer Granholm’s electric vehicle that he resorted to blocking the charging station with a gas-powered vehicle.
