A former Republican governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, has revealed his intention to travel alongside former President Donald Trump if Trump continues to abstain from participating in GOP primary debates. Christie made this statement during an interview with Howard Kurtz on the Fox News program “Media Buzz.”
Kurtz questioned Christie about whether Trump’s decision not to engage in debates, citing his substantial lead in national polls, had undermined Christie’s strategy of directly challenging him.
Christie responded, “Well, if he chooses to forgo the debates, Howie, we’ll offer him another opportunity. I’m quite certain he won’t be present at the Reagan debate. We’ll extend another opportunity in Alabama.”
He went on to say, “But if he declines that as well, then I’ll shadow him wherever he goes across the country. Wherever he travels, I’ll follow, and we’ll find a way to communicate, one way or another. He knows that.”
When asked whether he would adjust his travel schedule to trail the 45th president, Christie affirmed that he would.
It was noted that Trump, aged 77, had recently announced his decision to skip Republican Party primary debates. However, it remains unclear whether he intends to skip all future debates or just the initial ones, as reported by the Daily Wire. Trump’s decision was reportedly influenced by a CBS News poll that indicated his significant lead over other candidates in national polling, prompting him to declare, “I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!” on his Truth account.
