Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy questioned White House officials about President Joe Biden’s absence from the 9/11 ceremony, but White House staff responded indifferently, suggesting that it had been 22 years since the Twin Towers were attacked, and there was no need for Biden to visit any of the attack sites.
In explaining the President’s absence, Peter Doocy quoted a White House official who likened it to U.S. presidents not continuing to visit Hawaii 22 years after the Pearl Harbor attack.
Contrary to this justification, historical records show that President John F. Kennedy visited the USS Arizona Memorial in 1963 and paid his respects to those who had lost their lives in the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack.
President Biden’s 9/11 remarks in Alaska raised eyebrows as he began by talking about his personal connection to Scranton, Pennsylvania, and his high school sports experience. Many found it disconcerting that on the 22-year anniversary of the nearly 3,000 American lives lost on September 11, 2001, Biden chose to focus on himself from a location far removed from the attack sites.
